Male and Female debuts of 2005
Entering
glamour world and making it big is the dream of every actor.
Some among them come with a background of their family members'
close association with film industry while some others use
political powers! Some people readily give away their careers
in other fields! All of them come with a single aim - make
a strong debut. With no exception, some succeed in the game
but not all! Among the newcomers who made their debut this
year, some were brilliant and showed their capability of potential
star, while some seemed to have come without any passion or
skill set. We are summarizing the fate of new actors we saw
during 2005.
Sachin: Sachin debuted as a hero through Encounter
Dayanayak, a story based on real life of super-cop Daya Nayak.
This film was not up to the mark. Further, even the media
hype could not help the film nor the lead actor. His performance
was rated way too below average by to many critiques and industry
pundits. However, he is trying his luck with a new project
Nisseema.
Vivek Beedu: Handsome Youngman, a software engineer
was impressive in his debut O Gulabiye. He was well praised
by media and the film did a good business. With good looks
and performance, he was pretty convincing. Despite all 'good',
he never got any encouragement from the industry or any offers.
Vivek is now back to his IT profession and working for a multi-national
company!
Arjun: Mental Manja was one of the films that awed
many this year! Arjun who played the lead role in this movie
was mainly talked about because of the unusual mannerism and
concept of this flick. Though was not rated highly by media,
this film did good business and Arjun is continuing to stick
to acting. His new film Timma is under production.
Bhooshan: Lead actor of Jabardasth, Bhooshan got into
too many troubles since its inception. Neither he nor his
film made any significant mark. Bhooshan is waiting for a
break in his film career!
Srinagar Kitti: This youngster from small screen made
his debut as a lead actor in Giri. He was introduced to film
industry as a villain and then turned into a lead actor. Giri
bombed in the box office badly. If Kitti wants to continue
his film career, it's time for him to define his career objectives.
He should be choosy instead of signing anything and everything.
He played the lead role in Giri followed by a villain role
in Love Story!
Ishwar: The second of the Veeraswamy family, Ishwar
debuted in his home production 'Aham Premasmi'! Crazy Star
Ravichandran's brother Ishwar, who is also known as Balaji,
was introduced to the industry by his brother with loads of
hopes. He acted in two films during 2005. Aham Preamsmi, one
of the most expected movies of the year was appreciated as
a technical brilliance but had no meat in it. This turned
out to be just another movie of the trailblazer Ravichnadran
than that of Ishwar. His next film Tunta too was not up to
the mark. May be 2006 has something in the store for Iswar!
Dilip: He had reached the highest levels of fame on
television before he set the stage for himself on big screen.
He is not the first who took this route. Dilip was definitely
one of the finest discoveries of 2005 and has a long way to
go. But his debut film Boyfriend could not carry on with his
single handed efforts.
There was a boom of female newcomers in sandalwood this year.
Most of them are from neighboring states and showed the signs
of getting offers from Kannada filmmakers! Some debutants
of this year were quite talented while some others desperately
need to relearn their acting lessons well. On the whole, very
few actresses who entered Kannada film industry this year
seemed to have the capabilities of being successful in long
term.
Jennifer Kotwal: This actor turned model was spotted
by producer Ram Prasad of Ashwini Audios for their debut venture
Jogi. Though Jogi is a runaway hit of the year, Jennifer is
not getting the lion share of the success. Jennifer, a natural
beauty, appeared in quite a few ad commercials and now the
heartthrob of youngsters. Her latest in the offering is Shri
opposite Vijay Raghavendra.
Neeta: She had a decent debut in a beautiful comedy
flick Joke Falls. She got rave review for her performance
in this movie. She also got a chance to explore her acting
capabilities in Beru (an award winning film by P. Sheshadri).
She handled a very challenging role given to her responsibly
and gracefully. Her newest film Isha is yet to release.
Manya - This actress from Tamil Nadu made her Kannada
debut with Varsha. She shares the credit of acting opposite
a senior actor like Vishnuvardhan and a youngster like Murali!
Manya's other Kannada movies are Shastri and Shambu. Unlike
many unnoticed actresses, Manya got good recognition in the
industry and offers came her way. She acted opposite Darshan
in Shastri and with Murali in Shabhu. Her latest film Belli
Betta is under production.
Gowri: Heroine of Namma Basava too was not from Karnataka.
She was fortunate enough to act with Puneeth Rajkumar in her
debut itself. Film did well and Gowri too getting good offers
from other producers. She is currently acting in Gopi.
Varsha: Lead actress of Nenapirali, is a well-known
television anchor and was impressive in a significant role
in her debut. This talented Kannada girl proved herself with
good acting skills. She is keeping her fingers crossed for
a breakthrough and hoping for bright 2006!
Deepu: Another bubbly girl entered Kannada films in
2005 was Deepu. Her debut Kannada film Siddu failed to attract
the audience but her performance was well appreciated. It
was Anna Thangi that challenged her acting potential and she
did it with style!
Other who tried their hands are Sonali Joshi, Anjali Jaweri,
Shridevi, Sindhu Tolani, Gajala, Gurlin Chopra, Richa and
Gayatri.
