Star kids following their parent's footstep is not new in Indian cinema. And of course, there are exceptions where the next generation defers when it comes to career. Examples are the children of acclaimed director Girish Kasaravalli and Vaishali. While their son is not into feature films, daughter Ananya debuts in Kannada film with 'Desi'. Her performance as a dumb girl in 'Mooka Raga' tele-serial directed by her mother Vaishali Kasaravalli was an example for Ananya's acting potential. Desi produced by Shivanandam went on floors today (Feb. 27) at Techno Mark, Bangalore. Counterpart for Ananya is Mani, an actor from Mumbai.
Courageous move of producer Shivanandam is certainly admirable. His earlier production 'Mouni' was well appreciated and was selected for Indian Panorama. The lead actor of that film Dattanna bagged a national award too. But was not a commercial flick to fetch the producer any revenue. Despite of that, Shivanandam has ventured into 'Desi' with new director Nikhil. P.K.H. Das is handling the camera while C. Ashwath scores the music.
