'Mata' - new Kannada film of Jaggesh produced by Kanakapura Srinivas

'Mata'. The title itself sounds pretty unusual! And so is the film to certain extent. Produced by Kanakapura Srinivas, this project lagged for almost a year and is back in news now. Last Saturday (June 11), Puneeth Rajkumar and Ravichandran released the audiocassettes of Mata. Ashwini Audios owns the music rights.

Mata is based on a realistic theme. Guruprasad who was an associate to Sunil Kumar Desai has directed this movie with story and script. Lead actor Jaggesh was wondering about the snail pace of its production! On top of that, can you imagine a busy person being caught in a Math near Theerthahalli for weeks together! That too during the rainy season of Malnad! "But it was during dubbing when I realized the talent and vision of director Guruprasad" says Jaggesh. Mats is Jaggesh's 100th film. There are good words about Mata in Gandhinagar and whats more, even Desai is impressed by the result says the director.

Thespian G.V. Iyer was supposed to play a key role. And so was Vadiraj. But unfortunately, it never materialized due to their unexpected demise. It is Sudharshan who played the role that GV Iyer was planned for. Girish Mattannavar, an ex-police officer has acted in this movie. He was paid a whopping 1.25 lakhs just for two days' session! Interestingly, he donated this remuneration to a needy blind girl Jayalakshmi and she can see the world now after a successful operation! Present at the audio release function, this girl doubled her joy by getting a photograph clicked with her favorite actor Puneeth! Mattannavar deserves a pat on the back for his generosity.

Santhosh Rai Pataje who is currently directing '7 'O Clock' is behind the camera for Mata. V. Manohar has scored the music. Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar. R.S. Madusudhan. Mandya Ramesh, V. Manohar, Sadu Kokila, Biradar, Tabla Nani, Tara, Vanita Vasu, Pari, Vaishnavi etc are in the supporting roles. Producer Kanakapura Srinivas definitely needs a break now. His production Kanti did a moderate business while Omkara flopped belying expectations. His next venture 'Adishesha' with Ravichandran didn't progress after its launch! So he is obviously eying at Mata. Will see the result shortly.
