  Pandari Bai passed away

Veteran South Indian film actress Pandari Bai Veteran South Indian film actress Pandari Bai passed away early this morning. The septuagenarian actress from Karnataka was ailing for several months with renal failure and was a chronic diabetic patient. She was admitted to a private hospital on December 18th in Chenai from where she was shifted to Apollo Hospital for specialized treatment on instructions of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa who also announced to bear her medical expenditure. Social Welfare & Information Minister Kagodu Timmappa also had met Pandari Bai in Chenai on Dec 28th had said that the State government would extend all possible assistance to actress of yesteryear, Pandari Bai. She was amputated eight years back following a road accident.

Pandari Bai in Tamil film Kula DaivamPadnari Bai was the heroine for Dr. Rajkumar in 1954 for his first film 'Bedara Kannappa'. She acted in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Marati and Urdu films with more than 600 films. She had donned mother role for several top actors in the past 60 years. She entered the small screen through Kannada tele serial Manethana a few years back. She also had produced film Santha Sukha, Anuraga etc under the banner of Panduranga Productions and 'Shree Krishna Leele' with G.V. Iyer's direction. She was also the winner of Dr. Rajkumar award and for the film Belli Moda she had won the best supporting actress award.

Some of the Kannada films of hers are Bedara Kannappa, Sodhari, Hari Bhaktha, Raja Vikrama, Abba Aa Hudugi, Rayara Sose, Bangarada Hoovu, Belli Moda, Amma, Gejje Pooje, Namma Makkalu etc. Andha Naal (Tamil), Kula Daivam (Tamil), Parashakthi (Telugu), Baabi (Hindi) are among the few other films of hers.

We deeply mourn the sorrowful grieve of this legendary star Pandari Bai.
