Tirupati - a cop story
"It's a general belief that if any lead actor wants to find
fullness in his career, he has to wear police uniform on the
screen" says director Shivamani. His new film Tirupati features
Sudeep as a cop and the project kick started two days ago
(Nov 25, 2005). Shivamani's views are right in a way. Most
of the leading Kannada actors are appearing in police getup
- be it Shivarajkumar in Ashoka, Upendra in Kalki, Drashan
in Swamy and now Sudeep in Tirupati - they are all cop stories.
"It's a mass film" says director Shivamani. "Tirupati will
be an authentic police cinema. And I'll be going with realistic
touch - no exaggerations to glorify the hero's image" he added.
Entire film will be shot in Hubli and Bangalore. R.S. Gowda,
the producer of Sudeep's previous film Maharaja is producing
Tirupati. Rajesh Ramnath has scored five songs for this film
where Deepu is the female lead. Charanraj, Dharma, Rangayana
Raghu, Sathyajith etc are among the supporting cast.
Tirupati is the second project of Sudeep for producer R.S
Gowada. Rumor mills say that there was a difference of opinion
between Sudeep and R.S. Gowada. During the muhurath
of Tirupati, Sudeep demystified it by saying "If there is
any crisis between us, we would not have come together again!
He is happy with my work and hence this new film. He is certainly
a very good producer".
"Initially, I was a little nervous and hesitant to wear police
uniform" said Sudeep. "It represents the social responsibilities
and credibility. And hence, it's a big challenge for me to
live upto the expectations. I have to put all my energy to
give justice to this role. However, since I loved this character,
I am confident that I will give my best." he added.
