Chi. Udayshankar Memorial Award

Udayashankar is one of the most versatile, brilliant lyricists
Kannada film industry has ever seen. Known for writing transparent,
lucid lyrics, this legendary has penned many songs sung by
Dr. Rajkumar. An award in his name is certainly a piece of
pride for anyone. Sri Karim Khan was the first person to receive
'Chi Udayshankar Memorial Award' constituted in 2001. Honoring
ceremony was skipped during 2002, 03 however and this year,
its scheduled for 19th March at Ravindra Kalakshetra covering
all three years. Singer P.B. Srinivas, S. Janaki and S.P.
Balasubramanyam will be honored for the year 2002, 03 and
04 respectively. Karnataka Chief Minister Dharam Singh will
present the award and minister M.P. Prakash will preside.
Smt. Parvatamma Rajkumar, actress Jayanthi, K.C.N. Chandrashekhar,
K.S.L. Swamy (Ravi), S.A. Chinnegowdru and Jayamala are the
core committee members for this award that consists of a citation
and Rs. 10,000 in cash.
