  Uppi Dada MBBS kick started

Recent hilarious Hindi hit Munna Bhai MBBS starring Sunjay Dutt is being remade in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. Its Kannada version Uppi Dada MBBS was launched on Monday. As the title says, this film has Upendra in the lead directed by D. Rajendra Babu. A key role of hero's friend played by Harshad Varsi in its original will be played Jaggesh while it was originally planned to be Prakash Rai. Produced by Gemini Films Uppi Dada has an interesting cast group. Ananth Nag, Srinath, Sumithra (wife of director D. Babu) are some of the key people playing main roles. Yet another newsworthy information comes in the form of heroine. Uppi Dada is the debut film for heroine Uma - daughter of director Babu! So Uppi Dada in a way is D. Babu family film!

D. Babu and Uma - father and daughterUma is a new face for Kannada filmgoers but silver screen is not new to this cute girl. She has already a known actress in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. She acted in 25 films so far. This simple but attractive girl is an apt choice to play Grasy Singh's role in Munnabai. Unlike today's teenagers, Uma is against glamour. Instead, she wants to play challenging roles. "I don't want to appear on the screen as sex symbol. I am ready to accept smaller charters but it should be demanding and challenging. Roles played by my mom (Sumitra) were really noble and I want to follow her footsteps. By accepting all sorts of roles, I don't want to make any dent to the name and fame my mom gained. And that is why I am very particular while choosing the film" Uma adds. She is very confident about her performance in Uppi Dada MBBS. After all, its her father who is directing!

R.P Patnaik, the busiest music director in Kannada film industry from past few months is scoring the music. In Munnabai major chunk of the dialogues are based on Mumbai local nomenclatures. So it is none other than Upendra himself is writing dialogues and lyrics! National award winning cinematographer Ramachandar is behind the camera while Arun Sagar is the art director.
