Amrutha Dhare - film review
Amrutha
Dhare comes as a whiff of fresh air amongst the current trend
of violent movies. The job of pre-release hype is to create
curiosity and a buzz within and outside the industry. And
that is exactly did the producer-director Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar
for his film with a very simple plot. So, is Amrutha Dhare
as scrumptious as its title? Or is it a bitter experience?
Amrutha
Dhare reminds you of Kannada classic Haalu Jenu in terms of
story. And also the English flick Love Story and Hindi's Mili.
But the veteran presents the tale stylishly. Still somewhere
down the line, you realize that it could've been far more
engulfing keeping the nature of this film in mind.
Film mainly deals with the lifestyle, ambitions and hurdles
in the life of younger generation with a lot scope for sentimental
ingredients. Puru (Dhyan) and Amrutha (Ramya) are the young
couple with lots of dreams in their life. She is a spender
while he is a stinger. And this difference often leads to
squabble but they cant live without each other. Like in any
middleclass family, she wants a kid but he wants a house of
their own! And finally, Puru presents her a house on her birthday.
Just when their dream comes true, there begins the worse.
Puru comes to know that Amrutha has brain cancer and cant
live long. That comes as an indigestible truth to Puru and
he changes his mentality to keep Amrutha happy for the remaining
part of her life but without letting her know about it. And
the film ends with a tragedy note.
First
half of the film goes on a slow track with repeated shots
like the director's TV serial 'Vatara'! And second half is
reserved for sentiment. Image of Amithab Bachan comes throughout
the film though his portion of acting is limited to 4 dialogues.
The guest appearance gives the impression that its been added,
perhaps, to enhance the film's value. The star presence does
nothing to elevate the story. However, it's commendable to
rope-in such legendary to act in a Kannada movie and the credit
should go to Nagathihalli. He also deserves good marks for
execution of a few sequences.
Amrutha Dhare clearly belongs to Ramya, who lived the character
in every frame. The youngster comes up with a sparkling performance,
which is sure to multiply her fan following. Dyan is much
better compared to his earlier films and puts in a sincere
effort. Another plus of the movie is its music by Mano Murthy.
Songs are easy on the ears. The title track is the pick of
the lot. Cinematography by Krishnakumar is wonderful. Some
of the dialogues and lyrics are well worded and they do register
an impact.
On the whole, Amrutha Dhare may not appeal to mass audience
but will certainly attract class and family audience.
