Anand - Kannada film of Naveen Mayur, produced by Ramoji Rao

From dialogs to songs, film Anand is a remake of Telugu super hit film Anandam. But no doubt, this love story entertainer is handled very neatly for teenagers and families.

For film Anand concept itself is the story and balanced comedy adds life to it. Story starts with typical college campus, then moves to Ooty taking turns and twists at various stages. Kiran (Naveen Mayur) and Aishwarya (Rutika) are classmates who try to outdo each other and fight over petty matters. When Aishwarya's father is transferred to Ooty, she leaves the college, which relieves Kiran from on going quarrel. Aishwarya land-up at Deepika's (Jhansi) house who was in love with Raja (Rajesh)- Kiran's friend. But as Raja does not return from Bangalore, her parents choose another groom for Deepika and she commits suicide. Raja dies in an accident. Story takes a turn here. Aishwarya and Kiran starts writing letters in the name of Deepika and Raja without completely knowing the actual fact. Only when they come face to face in Ooty, they realize that they were actually exchanging love letters though the actual loves had died. Do they fall in love with this drama? Will they accept each other? etc forms the rest of the film.

Though Anand is a remake film, has given a lot of scope for Naveen Mayur in the area of acting and dance. We can recall the films Huccha, Ninagagi etc which opened up good talents in Kannada. Anand is the best film for Naveen in all respect compare to his earlier films Sparsha, Ninagoskara etc. Ruchita has nothing extraordinary - average acting. Sharan and gang as college mates makes you laugh with the professor Kashi. It reminds a lot of scenes from film Chitra and Ninagagi. Ananth Nag as always adds life to his role. Film Anad is produced by Ramoji Rao has a good direction by Varamulla Pudi, superb cinematography by P.K.H. Das while music by Rajesh Ramanath is average. Rajesh and Jhansi has nothing much to play. In a nut shell, a good remake film - must see for Naveen fans. A good teenage and family entertainer.
