Jootata - film review
What
it takes to make a bad film? Ask director Shankar. You will
sure be floored to see Jootata if you have seen and liked
the hilarious hit 'Ulta Palta' from the same director. Fun
unlimited is what was expected from this remake of Hindi flick
Hangama but the director miserably fails to take the route
of his own brand of wit and humor that one witnessed in his
earlier movie Ulta Palta.
Jootata is all about the mistaken identity, situational comedies
and contextual lies with two young men and a girl in the lead.
Dyan and Richa pretend to be a married couple to get a house
while Akash with no money is the son of a rich father! Movie
goes on a simple thread of realistic struggles of youngsters,
influence of urban life on people coming from rural and so
on.
If
well made and presented as a complete entertainer, even remakes
can succeed remarkably. Recent Joke Falls is a live example
for this. But when you watch Jootata, you realize that the
effort of director to provide laughter
goes in vain at times and the core focus takes a backseat!
In comedy movies, its not just the dialogs that are important
but the timing and body language of each character which is
a setback in Jootata! Dyan and Akash are not the right choice
though Richa is pretty convincing. As a matter of fact, supporting
casts like Rangayana Raghu, Shreenath, Komal, Sharan and Chitra
are the saving grace. R.P. Patnayak's music is another drawback.
Songs are squeezed-in as if the film perhaps, be incomplete
without songs and dance routines!
On the whole, Jootata disappoints if you have high hopes on
N.S. Shankar's movie.
