Darshan Toogudeep In film Lankesh Pathrike
  Lankesh Patrike film review

P.L. Indrajith has moved from love story to political theme through Lankesh Patrike. This film is Vasundara Das and Darshan Toogudeep in film Lankesh Pathrikenot something out of the world; stories on journalism, role of politics in this game etc are already been made in the past - like film New Delhi. But the specialty is that, is written and directed by Indrajith - a journalist by profession who has seen it closely owning the tabloid magazine Lankesh Patrike. Though he is been telling from the beginning that, is not the biography of P. Lankesh (the founder of Lankesh Patrike), people relating it with the magazine is pretty obvious.

Film Lankesh Patrike highlights the power of pen exposing the nexus between corrupt politics and police force. Lankesh (Ananth Nag) a bold editor of Lankesh Patrike exposes the crimes done by the CM (Rangayana Raghu). As a result he dies in a car blast - a planed murder by the politician. Indra (Darshan), son of Lankesh who used to work for a gossip newspaper takes over the charge of his father as Editor. Indra who does not believe that the death of his father is an accident but murder. During the course of his investigation, the minister traps him into a murder case of an eyewitness. In the mean time Indra falls in love with Preethi (Vasundara Das) who happens to be CM's daughter. ACP Ramu (Devraj) comes forward to help the young man but sacrifices his life. Rest goes as you expected. Will Indra
Rangayana Raghu in film Lankesh Pathrikemanage to get the culprits hooked? Does Preethi withstand her father? etc conclude the story.

Though Indrajith has done a good job on narration and managing the fast tempo, looks like has forgotten his words of throwing lights on some of the real incidents related to his magazine. Anath Nag does not have a suitable role for his capabilities but has done usual best within the limit. Rangayana Raghu steals the show while Darshan looks good in stunt and dance. Vasundara Das who marks her debut in Kannada looks good. Babji-Sandeep has nothing new in his numbers but manages the speed. Dialogs by B.A. Madhu are pretty sharp in some areas helping the film retain its seriousness. Overall, Lankesh Patrike is a typical commercial film with fantasy coated realism.
