O Gulabiye - film review
Films
revolving around college campus & teenage love were the trend
couple of years back. Too much is too bad. And hence, the
flooded movies of similar theme failed miserably. Contrarily,
O Gulabiye comes as a 'cool' entertainer. Moreover, this is
not limited to campus, teenage and fun but deals with the
choices and attraction of young hearts. It has a strong message
for parents to bring up their kids on right track. It also
deals with drug abuse among the younger generation.
Siddu (Vivek), son of a poor taxi driver grows up in an unhealthy
atmosphere. Behavior of his parents triggers immense curiosity
in him about sex. On the other hand, heroine Vaistnavi (Mallika),
an ill treated daughter of a rich businessman thrives for
someone affectionate. And she finds that in Siddu. Some of
the intimate scenes in the film might look a little indecent
but the story demands it. The film picks up very well in the
first part but pace is not continued in the post interval
portion. The climax is a real surprise!
Debutant director Narendra Babu has nested the flick very
well with elements that appeals to younger generation - be
it the romance or comedy; action or songs. Hero Vivek does
not look like a debutant. He steals the show like an experienced
actor in all departments. Heroine Mallika too has given a
good performance. And so is Naveen. There is no need to talk
about Suhasini who is at her best as always. Santhosh Haritsa
has handled the camera effectively and nothing much to talk
about music by Krupakar.
Direction: Narendra Babu
Producer: Paramesh and Premkumar
Music: Krupakar
Cinematography: Santosh Haritsa
Cast: Vivek, Mallika, Suhasini,
Naveen, Sandhya, Keerthi, Yashwanth, Shivakumar etc
