Rama Shama Bhama - film review
A
strict warning for all viewers of Rama Shama Bhama - make
sure to be equipped to tie yourself to the seat. Don't blame
the film if you fall off your chair laughing! It would certainly
be an underestimate if we say RSB is a rib-tickler. Calling
it as a laugh riot is like putting it placidly. To put it
straight, Rama Shama Bhama is a comic caper with laughter
and entertainment unlimited. It surpasses all your expectations
- we assure you!
Rama
Shama Bhama is one of the best comic capers to hit the screens
in recent times of Indian cinema. The film deeds the same
path as its original 'Sati Leelavathi', but the difference
lies in the fact that RSB is a step ahead in terms of content,
sequences and performances.
We don't want to talk about the story because, it's as simple
as it could be without any jargon or gyan! Visit the web
promo for synopsis if you wish to! It's all about the
escapades of a flirt Rama to enjoy the best of both world
- his wife Bhama and family on one side and his mistress on
the other side. In-between is his friend Shama, a gynecologist
who is a troublemaker and also a lifesaver! In a nutshell,
it's just laughter laughter and laughter unlimited.
It isn't the first time that someone has attempted to remake
the immensely likable comedy flick. But Ramesh borrowed the
basic plot and gave it a new look altogether especially the
linguistic treatment. The first hour abounds in howler moments,
with romance giving the film that extra sheen. Film starts
off with the cartoonist Rama desperately searching for his
sketch and his ingenuous wife Bhama coolly using that paper
to wipe the coffee spilled on his desk!
RSB
is, without doubt, one of Ramesh's finest efforts as an actor.
Laughter is the most difficult emotion to capture on celluloid
but Ramesh does that with style- not only as an actor but
also as a director. His selection of technicians - for camera
to dialogues to music, they are so apt, it surely envies his
contenders. And so are the star casts - from Kamal Hassan
to Urvashi to Shruti to Daisy to Dattanna… what an awesome
team it is…
Gurukiran's music is very much in sync with the mood of the
film and two songs are worth mentioning. But why did they
keep it under wrap all these days without audio release? Dialogues
by Yashavanth Sardeshpande and Rajendra Karanth are first-rate,
especially those delivered by Kamal Hassan in Dhaward-Hubli
diction. P.K.H. Das's cinematography is an added booster.
Kamal Hassan's performance is one of the mainstays of the
film and surely brings in the repeat viewers. Shruthi plays
her part beautifully and so is Urvashi. Shruti is the sober
type, the typical dumb woman while Urvashi is competent and
does her part well. Dattanna is excellent as a supporting
character.
What you carry out of the theater are moments that'd be difficult
to erase for a long time! On the whole, Rama Shama Bhama is
a thoroughly enjoyable family entertainer not just as a comic
caper, but also for its cleanliness and super dialogues. It
should be a sure-shot hit at the box-office!
