Swamy - film review
M.S. Ramesh has always given moderately good films and Swamy
is no exception. People who don't want to see Darshan only
in rowdy roles would love to watch this flick. And actors
like Avinash and Rangayana Raghu always lend adequate support
to make the movie worth watching.
To
emphasize on punchy dialogues, M.S. Ramesh normally uses lengthy
string of words and so in Swamy. In most of the Indian films,
police officials are either portrayed as corrupt officers
or if at all they are to be shown as sincere ones, they are
projected as helpless souls in front of their superiors. But
Swamy differs in its own way. ACP Swamy is a sincere and at
the same time, very clever officer. He knows the right techniques
to thrash goons and 'handle' corrupt higher officers within
the legal boundaries. He knocks down every one smartly and
legally. Police uniform is an apt fit for Darshan in this
flick.
There is not much scope for heroine Gayathri Jayaram in the
story. But she indeed is a must for all five songs except
the item number. Swamy belongs to Darshan. But even Avinash
and Rangayana Raghu are not left far behind when it comes
to performance. Their mastery in delivering colloquial Hubli
lingo is a treat to watch! Sadhu Kokila used as filler with
no real significance. There is nothing much to expect from
Gurukiran. It's surprising to see him banking on his own compositions
from his earlier movies.
If you want to see Darshan coming out of his existing image,
you can help by watching Swamy!
