Yashwanth - film review
Though
his directorial debut Ok Saar Ok was a disaster, his second
Baa Baaro Rasika was a technically well-made film by Dayal.
When such directors with fresh ideas come up with new
product, the expectations obviously soars. Contrary to expectations,
Yashwanth fails to arrest your attention. You genuinely feel
sad when a talented director dishes out an inferior product
like Yashwanth. Although Dayal tried hard to make it a movie
with a message, neither does Yashwanth serves the purpose
effectively, nor does it thrill you in those two hours.
Film has a straightforward story. It deals with today's younger
generation and how they invite trouble by means of careless
attitude. Yashwanth (Murali) an unemployed youth loses 50,000
bucks kept for his mother's operation when his folks are away
from home. The whole story revolves around the consequences
of how Yashwanth earns the money back before his parents return.
During the course, he meets the heroine (Rakshita) who flees
her home to avoid a forced marriage.
Yashwanth belongs to Murali completely. The actor puts his
best foot forward and delivers an impressive performance in
all aspects like in his earlier movies. Though the director
tried to say, 'stay focused if you want to achieve something',
he fails due to baseless logistics. He tried his best to enthrall
the audience with some action and romance however. Apparently,
one of most talked about 'hot smooch' has been censored in
the final version. But, the director and the producer denied
that there was no such scene at all!
The
heroine, villain and other supporting characters do not have
much to do. Muni who played the villain role imitates the
mannerism of Rangayana Raghu from Ranga SSLC. Actor Dhirendra
Gopal's voice for a dog was an awful thing to do. Mani Sharma
has churned some 'mix and match' tunes from Tamil and Telugu
movies. And furthermore, he used the popular song of yesteryear
'Mannige Mara Bharave' of Chi. Uday Shankar with meager modification
of lyrics but without any credit to the legendary.
On the whole, Yashwanth is not as gripping as one would've
expected it to be. Its an absolute letdown but enthralls the
frontbenchers!
