'Arasu' - new film of Puneeth produced by Vajreshwari Combaines

After six consecutive hits Puneet Rajkumar is once again back in action with his latest home production 'Arasu'. The film which is being produced by Parvatamma Rajkumar under the banner of Vajreshwari Combines went to floors during the auspicious muhurath on Thursday (March 09). The muhurath was well attended by the industry people and close friends of the Rajkumar family. Dr. Raj who was suffering from illness recently looked hail and healthy during the muhurath. After a grand muhurath the Rajkumar family addressed the media persons about their latest offering 'Arasu'.

This film is supposed to be the last project of Varadaraj, the late brother of Dr. Rajkumar, who usually involved himself in the selection of stories and screenplays for Rajkumar family.

Dr. Rajkumar remembered Varadaraj at this occasion. 'He is the inspiration for this subject. He himself had approved the title. 'Arasu' has two meaning. Arasu is not only a king, it also means search. A King is the one who always searches and conquers new things. If we try a little hard and search for what we want, we can get that. God always blesses the one who search for good things. If a man wins his search, he can be a real Arasu (king). Such 'Arasu can bless others (Harasu). So, everybody should be searching for good deeds. Someone said that I am in a position to bless. But that's not true. I am also still searching, how can I bless somebody? Varadappa had attained that position where he could bless others' said Dr. Rajkumar emotionally.

Before Dr. Rajkumar, Raghavendra Rajkumar had briefed the media about the film. 'It is an unusual love story penned by Janardhan Maharshi who wrote the screenplay for 'Akash'. This is the first time that Puneet Rajkumar will be seen in a triangular love story. He is the heir of a royal family who is settled in some other country. He comes here in search of something. In his journey he happens to meet two heroines. What happens next? It would be better to see it in on the screen. The heroines are yet to be finalised. The film will go to floors on the 15th of April. Music director Jyotsna Sridhar who scored for tamil film 'Kaadhal' will be composing music for this film. "Four tunes are ready. We are also forcing Appaji (Dr. Rajkumar) to sing one song for this film. But right now, he hasn't decided anything about it. Let us see ..." said Raghavendra Rajkumar.

Asked about Dr. Rajkumar's opinion about singing a song for 'Arasu', he said, "Let us see... If I get a chance and if I feel better, then I would definitely sing."

Mahesh Babu

Shivarajkumar was also present at the occassion. "We have got a very nice story in our hands. Janardhan Maharshi is a highly talented writer. This film will be a definite hit with the audience. I had predicted that 'Akash' will complete silver jubilee even before it's started. I knew that the film would be sureshot hit because, compared to others Puneeth is very talented. I am not saying that because he is my brother. Puneeth doesn't act. He simply does it naturally. He has an unusual style. He can carry off a film very smoothly on his shoulders. Mahesh Babu is directing the film. Even he proved himself in his maiden venture. He also has a spark" said Shivarajkumar.

Director Mahesh Babu confessed that he had lots of offers to direct a remake film. "But, I didn't want to do a remake film. I like only straight subjects. Varadappa used to guide me in selecting stories and screenplays. This is the second and last film that I worked with him. This film is my 'shruddanjali' to him" concluded Mahesh Babu.
