Kanakambari - a special effect extravaganza!
It takes a while for anyone to adapt new methodologies and
technologies in their routine. And so is the digital filming.
Our Kannada filmdom is no exception to this. Reasons given
by our filmmakers for this are as simple as this - 'ours is
a small market and we have limited audience'. It is true to
certain extent. The good news is about a handful of people
who came forward to use digital technology and hi-definition
cameras. Wiz Works, the makers of Magic Ajji are the first
people to use HD Camera for a Kannada film and next comes
Kanakambari produced by Shailendra Babu. Directed by Dinesh
Baabu, this film is all set to release shortly and hence will
be the first ever screened Kannada movie filmed using HD Camera.
Kanakambari
is an example to demonstrate how the right usage of a camera
makes the difference in a film. This film has a lot of camera
gimmicks apart from extensive computer graphics usage. Cameraman
should know how to utilize the features available on this
camera to get the best out of it says director Diensh Baabu.
According to Surendra of Wiz Works - the only people who have
HD Camera in Bangalore and the makers of Magic Ajji, digital
media is the technology of tomorrow. As a matter of fact,
people are just waiting for Kanakambari to hit the screen
to see the quality. It may change the conventional mental
block of our traditional filmmakers. At present, you ask any
producer in Gandhi Nagar, they simple point to these two films.
'Its almost an year since they commenced and it took too long'
are their complaints. As per director Dinesh Baabu such delay
is inevitable while adapting new technology. They also stumbled
in choosing the right labs. Apart from these, is the prolonged
computer graphics usage that delayed the project he added.
Is this camera economically beneficial? Its good for big budget
films and for people who wants to experiment to get the best
shot says director Dinesh Baabu. He is happy with the usage
of HD camera in Kanakambari. The other film shot on HD Camera
- Magic Ajji too has his direction. He is also planning to
make a film in Hampi using HD camera. Produce Shailendra Babu
too is pleased with the outcome of Kanakambari. He received
positive feedback from people when clipping of Kanakambari
was screened a few days back. "We need not have to wait till
the release to see our performance. With this technology,
it can be seen right after each shot!" says lead actress of
Kanakambari Anu Prabhakar. This film is expected to hit the
screen in July.
Kanakambari has Vijaya Lakshmi, Anu Prabhakar, Jyothi Krishna,
Aryan Prasad, Dattanna, Chitra Shenoy, Bank Janardhan, Om
Prakash Rao, Manya Ramesh etc among the cast group and has
music by Praveen D. Rao.
