'Kannadada Kanda' - a comeback for Vinodraj
Veteran
actress Leelavathi who played the lead roles and then the
supporting roles for several decades is once again venturing
into film production. It's none other than her son Vinodraj
who plays the lead in this film 'Kannadada Kanda' directed
by Vijay Kumar of Gejje Naada fame.
Leelavathi who has even penned the story for this movie says, "Though my son existed in the industry for so many years, he couldn't get a role suitable for his caliber. It's time for me explore his potential and hence producing 'Kannadada Kanda'. I have been working on this story from past few years keeping Vinod's image in mind and hope it gives him a break…"
Though she regrets the fact that Vinod could not become a star, she is happy to see him as a successful agriculturist. "Even though the filmdom kept him away, agriculture welcomed him. I had a piece of land in Chennai and sold a part of it to buy some land here. We have been growing variety of crops. It is agriculture that gave us financial stability. I had produced a film earlier (Rajanna) for him, which was my first venture. It didn't run for more than two weeks and we got into deep financial crunch. Today, we have overcome our debts and agriculture gave us rebirth," says Leelavathi.
Vindoraj who kept himself busy in farming for over six years, says, "Everyone out there advised me to look after my mother. But today, she is venturing into such a big risk at this age to bring me a star image. I hope this film succeeds. It has all the ingredients to succeed but depends on people who are the ultimate judges."
