'Sakha Sakhi' - remake of hit film Tiruda Tirudi

Recycling may be peachy for the environment, but not for the film industries. But in reality, remakes are spurred by racism not only in Kannada but also around the world. 'Do they simply lack the creativity and genius of the directors?' is the basic question of one group while 'what is wrong in makeovers' is the question of the second group! This leads to a third group of 'plagiarists'. In other words, these are 'remix movies' (thanks to viggy.com discussion forum for redefining this term)!

If we look at the recent past of Kannada showbiz industry, more than 60% of the total releases/launched movies belong to the remake/remix category. Upendra starrer Gouramma, Thandege Thakka Maga, Sudeep's Nammanna, are a few exemplary remakes. Whats more, Sudeep's directorial debut 'My Autograph' and actor Ramesh Aravind's directorial debut 'Rama Shyama Bhama' are the latest additions to this category. If you look at the recently released movies, Varsha, Mourya, Joke Falls, Jootata etc fall under this slot. Then comes the next category of 'inspired' movies! 'Rishi' to certain extent reminds Main Hoon Naa while the latest 'Gunna' resembles Gilli, Okkudu and Yes Boss! Is it because 'great people think alike'? Or it's just a coincidence?

Yet another addition to remake stream is 'Sakha Sakhi' by Rockline Productions. Its a remake of Tamil hit 'Tiruda Tirudi'. Chaya Singh, the female lead of the original movie plays the lead role here too opposite Sunil Rao. One the popular number 'Manmatha Raasaa…' from the Tamil version has already been copied in Kalasipalya. Good thing about this movie is that the talented Kannada girl Chaya Singh is coming back to homeland and hope she gets support from our filmmakers!
