Yella Ok - This title 'Yaake'
Change
is the only constant. But the world does not stand still and
the rate of change is only accelerating in all areas year
after year! And so is Kannada tinseltown. New producers are
venturing in; new technicians are trying their luck. But majority
of such entrants face problems in one or the other way. If
financial constraints are the bottleneck during shooting phase,
the usual theater problem becomes the hurdle during its release!
'Yaake' is one such movie that was mounted almost two years
back and now getting ready for the release. Shantharaj Kundapur,
Ramesh M and Hrudayraj have produced Yaake under 'Rockwood'
banner. Directed by V. Rajendra Kumar, this movie features
Raghav, Anitha Nair and Divya Gowda in the lead. Music is
by Krupakar while Aradhya handled the camera. Its audiocassettes
were released last week by actress Umashree and Tara. Apparently,
Tara is no more just an actress but also a producer! Her debut
production 'Haseena' directed by seasoned director Girish
Kasaravalli is almost ready!
It's a new world for more or less everyone from 'Yaake' team.
But there were enough matters for Umashree to talk about!
The Karnataka State Award was never excluded from controversies
and so was the recently announced list. This year's award
winner
Umashree insisted that the award committee should take a serious
look at dubbing as one of the mandatory criteria. Her argument
was, if someone else dubbed the voice for an award winning
actor or actress, even the dubbing artist should be eligible
for an award! In fact, this is one of the norms for National
Awards. However, lets hope, this will be considered at least
for next year's selection! State Award distribution ceremony
is scheduled to happen at Gulbarga on Feb. 12, 2005.
After Umashree, it was Divya Gowda who showed her presence
that evening. 'Praana' was her debut and that was the only
released film of hers. Despite of that, she refused to talk
anything about that movie for not getting adequate publicity.
Scribes there were curious to know about the aftereffects
of her debut film but her answer was somewhat harsh that sounded
like 'write whatever you want'! Quickly realizing the blunder,
her talks turned towards migration of actresses from neighboring
states. "Why cant the producers here encourage local talents
instead of going after girls from outside for item number?"
asks Divya! Furthermore, she boldly said, "I myself can step
for those dances!" Now its our turn to be surprised! 'Yaake'
(Why) Divya? Her intention is to become a heroine or an 'item
girl'? Only Divya knows!
