Puneet Rajkumar and Ramya in film Abhi
  Abhi film review

If survival of the fittest is one side of the battle, meeting the expectation level of fans is the other side of the game in film industry. With this background, new film Abhi of Puneet Rajkumar has hit the big screen. Puneet comes back as a much more matured and improved actor Puneet Rajkumar and Ramya in film Abhicompared to his debut film Appu. A real incident in the recent past where a couple of different communities were killed by their relatives in Bangalore had hit the headlines. Abhi is a film having this as the background and well handled by director Dinesh Babu.

Abhi (Puneet Rajkumar), studying in a college is the hero of the college. Bhanu (Ramya) comes to Bangalore from Hubli for her studies with a strict condition from her parents that she should not get into any activities that disrepute their Khandan. She happens to be the tenant at Abhi's house. As obvious, both of them fall in love. Bhanu's father Abdul Khan (Satyajith) comes to know about it and he pulls her out of the college and takes her back to Hubli. Abhi follows her and this leads to open-up the secret behind him. Who is Abhi? What he does next? How he handles the situation? Will he get Bhanu? etc forms rest of the plot.

Puneet shines as an actor, dancer and whats more, even in stunts. In one of the scene where his collegiate celebrate Mother's Day, he expresses his love and affection towards his mother. The way he delivers dialogs, expresses his emotions Puneet Rajkumar in film Abhiand feeling is touching. Dinesh Babu handled this love cum sentiment story with a difference. The brisk first half of the film filled with action and lively college life of teenagers with mild comedy entertains you more than the second half, which slackens a bit. Ramya (original name: Spandana) who was a model looks pretty and is a promising heroine both in the area of acting and glamour. Umashree as Haseena laughs you along with Enagi Nagaraj. Sathyajit shines as Ramya's father in villain role. Dialect of North Karnataka, especially that of Hubli is okay up to some extent. Nothing new or punchy in M.S. Ramesh's dialogs but he manages to maintain the seriousness and light comedy throughout. In Gurukiran's music, one can see a lot of influence of Puneet's earlier film Appu. This is an example of 'following success stories'! One can say, film Abhi in general, exceeds Puneet's earlier film Appu in all respect. Good film to watch.
