Udees - film review
If
everyone starts venturing into serious movie production, there
might be no commercial films! Filmgoers are thirsty for variety and
mass entertainers. But sadly, our filmmakers have redefined
violent flicks as 'mass entertainers'. Majestic and Dasa are
the box office hits by P.N. Sathya, that revolves around rowdism
in one or the other way. His next 'Sardara' had something
to say irrespective of its box
office collection. Udees is his latest attempt to follow the
success formula starring Mayur in the lead. If the director
thinks, such pretentious flick can pull the audience to cinema
halls, he is wrong. People are bored of flooded violence
in Kannada movies! However, Mayur Patel once again proves
himself though Udees is certainly a wrong choice for this
talented youngster.
Film
starts with an abode of rowdies. Till the interval, it moves
in two distinct tracks without any connection. While one part
deals with a group of rowdies, the other with college going
Satya (Mayur) and the heroine in their dream world. Satya
turns violent when a moneylender assaults his family. Then
starts his saga of violence. Director Satya tried to convey
the message that 'death is the only end for a rowdy'. But
is it necessary to glorify violence to convey this message?
People have seen enough and more fairytales!
Story, direction and the screenplay are the real villains
of the movie. The only performance worth remembering is of
Mayur who has given a brilliant performance in action, dance
and emotional scenes despite of shoddy script. Apart from
that, there is nothing else that deserves a mention.
