'Marma'
by Sunil Kumar Desai - a suspense
thriller after a long break
After
the failure of his previous film Parva, Sunil Kumar Desai
launched another film Marma with Prema as heroine at the Nisarga
House on Nelamangala Road on Wednesday. Marma, produced by P.S.
Srinivas Murthy, introduces a new hero Anand, a model from
Bangalore.
"It is a suspense thriller that can be watched by family," said
Desai refusing to narrate the entire story. "In fact, I should have
done this movie in 1991 itself, but it got postponed to 2002. I
have taken an instance from a short story, which I had read in 1982.
An interesting sequence comes in a paragraph which provoked me to
do the film based on that incident." Marma deals with psychology
in general, stress disorder in particular. "After reading the story,
I consulted Dr. Ashok Pai and Srikanth Bhat. There is no song or
fight in the movie. There are no filmi gimmicks too. It is a straight
subject in which the heroine will be a victim of an incident." Stating
that Prema's role is unique, Desai said, "It was up her to build
the character which I am sure she will excel in. she is playing
the role of a psychic patient and normal woman. But I refuse to
reveal anything about the hero's role." Desai plans to shoot the
film in Bangalore, Jog-Kumta Road and Kukke Subramanya. "I wanted
to do this type of film for a long time. Now I want to prove myself
what I was and what I am," says the director. In this film 90 percent
of the artistes are new comers. Lets hope to see this movie in the
success line like Tarka, Nishkarsha, Utkarsha, Sangharsha
etc.
